How long have you lived in Missoula? What, in your opinion, is the best thing
about living in Montana?
I have lived in Missoula all my life. The best thing about living in Montana is the variety of year-
round outdoor activities. We love to take our two dogs hiking in the mountains. There are
great places to explore and wonderful backcountry roads to take for some fun adventures.
Going to some of the small, out-of- the-way towns is a great way to see the state and meet
What certifications have you earned or expertise have you gained over the years?
I have been grandfathered in to a Lighting Specialist certification because of my years in the
industry. I have gained a huge amount of knowledge about light bulbs (my specialty) over the
years. It has been largely self-taught through reading. I am continually learning about new
products and changes being made. We have reps that come in to do training seminars on the
latest and greatest products on the market so we can continue to provide the highest level of
customer service in the lighting industry.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
Helping clients choose lighting for their homes. It is great to see the finished product that makes
them happy with the lighting they’ve selected. It is great to help them select not only fixtures
that look good, but will provide the amount of lighting needed in the space.
Tell us a memorable story about working at Western Montana Lighting.
Going to an electrical walk-through a couple years ago and having to climb a ladder and climb
through a window to get into the house. Not my favorite thing to do.
Please share your top lighting tip or secret.
All the new LED bulbs that say they are dimmable may require a special dimmer to make them
work properly and may not be rated for totally enclosed fixtures.
